1. The Armoury, Victoria Quay

The Armoury is the Brunning & Price pub in a red-brick former armoury on Victoria Quay, beside the river and a short walk from the Quarry. Its Christmas Day page sets one menu for the day at £104.95 a head.

Starters include a duck confit and green peppercorn terrine, French onion soup with a Gruyère croute and a king prawn and scallop Thermidor; mains include roast turkey with duck fat roasties, pigs in blankets and chestnuts, a dry-aged sirloin of beef, a chalk stream trout Wellington and a vegan lentil, squash and borlotti bean haggis. The pub sends a pre-order link once you have booked.

2. The Two Henrys, Battlefield

The Two Henrys is the Greene King pub on Robert Jones Way at Battlefield, on the north edge of Shrewsbury. Its Christmas Day menu PDF gives three courses at £69.99 and a children’s Christmas Day menu at £29.99, the lowest prices on this list.

Mains are hand-carved turkey with duck fat roast potatoes, stuffing, a pig in blanket and a Yorkshire pudding, a sirloin steak with Black Tiger prawns, a cranberry-glazed nut roast, a cheddar and leek tart or a salmon and prawn duo, finished with a mince pie and tea or coffee. The Christmas page asks for a £10 deposit for each adult and child, with menu choices by 11 December.

3. The Mytton & Mermaid, Atcham

The Mytton & Mermaid is the Brunning & Price inn with rooms on the Severn at Atcham, across the road from the Attingham Park estate, about four miles east of Shrewsbury. It serves the same Christmas Day menu as the Armoury at £114.95 a head: turkey with all the trimmings, dry-aged sirloin, pan-fried venison loin with a juniper jus, or a Jerusalem artichoke and Stilton tart, with puddings including Christmas pudding, a dark chocolate fondant and a vegan pear and mincemeat crumble tart.

Its opening times table says food is served from 12 noon to 2pm on Christmas Day, with the bar open to 4pm.

4. The Riverside Inn, Cound

The Riverside Inn is a Chef & Brewer pub with rooms on the A458 at Cound, by the Severn between Shrewsbury and Cressage. Its Christmas Day page offers three courses for £90 a head.

Starters include a hot smoked salmon and prawn cocktail and a Croxton Manor cheese soufflé; mains include hand-carved turkey with sausage stuffing and a pig in blanket, 10-hour slow-cooked beef cheeks, a sea bass and king prawn duo and St Clement’s glazed lamb rump. There is a separate Young Guests menu.

The pub says dogs are welcome in the bar and on the patio but not in the conservatory or dining room.

5. Albright Hussey Manor, Broad Oak

Albright Hussey Manor is a country house hotel at Broad Oak, off the A528 north of Shrewsbury. Its Christmas Day page sets a six-course lunch at £170 for adults and £135 for children, the highest price on this list.

It starts with canapés and a glass of Champagne, then starters such as French onion soup, duck liver parfait and king prawn cocktail, a Bucks Fizz sorbet, and mains of roast Shropshire turkey, fillet of beef, roast duck breast with confit leg, or a truffle and wild mushroom Wellington. It ends with coffee, petits fours and a liqueur.

6. The Wynnstay Hotel, Oswestry

The Wynnstay is the hotel at 43 Church Street in Oswestry town centre; its website describes it as a “5* Inn”. Its 2026 Christmas brochure prices Christmas Day lunch at £115 for adults and £57.50 for children, served from 12 noon.

The menu has four starters including a roasted celeriac and apple soup and a smoked salmon tartare, a raspberry sorbet, then roast turkey with chestnut and cranberry stuffing, roast sirloin of beef, pan-fried hake or a vegan balsamic beetroot Wellington, and Christmas pudding, a dark chocolate and Maldon salt tart or an Irish cream and gingernut cheesecake. Two and three-night Christmas packages are sold separately.

7. Hawkstone Hall and Gardens, Marchamley

Hawkstone Hall is the country house hotel at Marchamley, between Wem and Hodnet, set in its own gardens. Its Christmas Day 2026 page prices a five-course lunch at £145 for adults and £45 for children.

The menu runs from homemade bread with Hawkstone butter and an amuse-bouche to starters such as pan-seared scallops with lobster bisque and smoked venison; mains include a turkey ballotine wrapped in pancetta, rump of lamb, roasted cod loin and a vegan mushroom and chestnut risotto. The hall adds a 10% discretionary service charge to the bill.

8. The Clive Arms, Bromfield

The Clive Arms is the restaurant with rooms at Bromfield, a few miles north-west of Ludlow. Its Christmas page prices Christmas Day lunch at £115 for adults and £50 for children under 12, served from 12pm to 2pm, and says the menu mixes “traditional festive favourites alongside a selection of other delicious dishes”.

It also runs a Boxing Day brunch from 10am to 2pm with a £10 non-refundable deposit, and a festive menu from 25 November to 24 December at £30 for two courses or £35 for three.

9. The Lion and Pheasant, Wyle Cop, Shrewsbury

The Lion and Pheasant is the townhouse hotel on Wyle Cop with 24 rooms; its 2026 Christmas brochure says its festive food carries two AA Rosettes. The Christmas Fayre menu is three courses at £45 Monday to Thursday and £49.50 on Friday and Saturday, for groups of six or more.

Mains include a turkey and bacon ballotine, sirloin of beef with an ox cheek croquette, Maynards pork belly with black pudding, sea bass and a wild mushroom, spinach and feta Wellington. The brochure also lists a festive afternoon tea and live music on Friday and Saturday nights in December.

It does not advertise a Christmas Day lunch.

10. The Charlton Arms, Ludford, Ludlow

The Charlton Arms is the hotel and pub at the foot of Ludford Bridge, on the south bank of the River Teme across from Ludlow town. Its Festive Menu 2026 runs from 30 November to 23 December at £44.50 a head for three courses, for parties of six or more.

Starters include a Cornish crab crumpet and a twice-baked Brie de Meaux soufflé; mains include Shropshire turkey supreme with Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes, Cornish cod with a curried mussel broth and a festive nut roast; puddings include a chocolate orange trifle and a Christmas pudding cheesecake.

11. The Castle Hotel, Bishop’s Castle

The Castle Hotel is the hotel on Salop Street at the top of Bishop’s Castle. Its Christmas Menu 2026 is served at lunch and dinner seven days a week through December, either à la carte, with roast turkey and all the trimmings at £24.95, or as a set price of £34.95 for two courses and £43.95 for three.

Other mains include Three Tuns beer-braised beef feather, a ham hock and rabbit suet pudding and cashew nut cutlets. The hotel says it is closed on Christmas Day.
