Theatre Severn's Aladdin runs 27 November to 3 January across 66 performances, and was already 60% sold in July. Ludlow's Sleeping Beauty opens 9 December.

Shropshire has two full-length professional pantomimes this Christmas. Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury stages Aladdin over 66 performances from Friday 27 November to Sunday 3 January 2027, from £18.50. Ludlow Assembly Rooms stages Sleeping Beauty over 35 performances from Wednesday 9 December to Saturday 2 January.

Theatre Severn was already close to 60 per cent sold in July, so the Shrewsbury dates below are worth reading as a booking list rather than a browse.

Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury: Aladdin

Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury SY3 8FT. Box office 01743 281281.

Written by Telford-born Paul Hendy and produced by Evolution Productions, the team behind every Theatre Severn pantomime since 2011. Brad Fitt directs and plays Dame Dolly in his fifteenth season at the theatre. Tommy J Rollason returns for a fifth year as Charlie, Cara Dudgeon as the Spirit of the Ring, with Damian Patton as PC World and Mark Oxtoby as Ivan Tochacha (Shropshire Council newsroom, July 2026).

Prices move with the date

There are four price bands, and they climb steadily through the run:

Band When
£18.50 to £36 All weekday morning and afternoon shows to 16 December, plus 27 Nov 1pm, 4 Dec 1pm and 18 Dec 11am
£23.50 to £41 Opening weekend evenings and Sunday shows, 27 Nov to 6 Dec
£26.50 to £45 Weekends 5 to 13 December, plus 31 December and 2 to 3 January
£29.50 to £48 18 December to 30 December

Schools tickets are £13.50. Theatre Severn Friends get 10 per cent off, and Friends Plus get half price on the opening weekend, Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November. Further discounts for groups of ten or more, and for children under two, are through the box office only.

The cheapest seats in the entire run are the weekday 10.15am and 2pm shows in the first three weeks of December, which sit in the bottom band while Saturday evenings in the same week are £10 more.

Access performances

  • BSL signed: Sunday 13 December, 1pm.
  • Relaxed: Friday 18 December, 11am. Lights stay on low, sound effects softened, audience free to move around and leave.
  • Stagetext captioned: Sunday 3 January 2027, 1pm.

The relaxed show is the only 11am performance in the run and it is also in the cheapest price band, £18.50 to £36, while the 6pm show on the same Friday is £29.50 to £48.

When the theatre is dark

There is no performance on Monday 30 November, Monday 7 December, Monday 14 December, Thursday 17 December, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Every other day from 27 November has either two or three shows; Saturday 19 December has three, at 10.15am, 2pm and 6pm.

Times settle into a pattern: 10.15am and 2pm on weekdays in early December, 1pm and 6pm on Fridays, 2pm and 6pm on Saturdays, 1pm and 5pm on Sundays. Check each date, because the pattern breaks over Christmas week.

One warning about the theatre’s own website. The page header prints a box office number of 01785 619080, which is a Staffordshire code and not Theatre Severn’s. The correct number, given in the body of the same page, in the footer and in the council’s press release, is 01743 281281.

Ludlow Assembly Rooms: Sleeping Beauty

1 Mill Street, Ludlow SY8 1AZ. Box office 01584 878 141.

The fifth joint professional pantomime between Ludwig Theatre Arts and Ludlow Assembly Rooms, with a cast of local young performers alongside professional actors. 35 public performances, Wednesday 9 December 2026 to Saturday 2 January 2027, running about 180 minutes including an interval (Ludlow Assembly Rooms).

What makes this one different from Shrewsbury:

  • Three adult-only nights: Saturday 12 December, Friday 18 December and New Year’s Eve, Thursday 31 December.
  • BSL interpreted performance: Tuesday 15 December.
  • Relaxed performance: Monday 28 December, 2pm.
  • Carers go free. Under-2s do not need a ticket but sit on a paying adult’s lap. Wheelchair spaces must be booked by phone or in person.
  • Bill’s Kitchen opens for pre-show suppers on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, two courses for £17 if booked 24 hours ahead.
  • School shows run 8 to 18 December and were almost sold out when the page was published. Enquiries to jess@ludlowassemblyrooms.co.uk.

Two things on that page contradict each other. The blurb says the run starts on 8 December, but the earliest public performance listed is Wednesday 9 December at 6.30pm; 8 December is a schools day. And the notable-events list calls Saturday 12 December the “chilled” performance and Monday 28 December the relaxed one, while the date listing tags both the 12 December 2pm and the 28 December 2pm shows as relaxed. If that matters to your booking, ring the box office.

Bridgnorth: nothing announced yet

Theatre on the Steps on Stoneway Steps has run a pantomime for years, but as of 6 September 2026 its what’s-on listing stops at Roxy Magic on 31 October and no December show has been announced (Theatre on the Steps). Its own homepage says more shows are being announced through this month. Box office 01746 766 477.

Getting there

Theatre Severn sits on Frankwell Quay next to the Frankwell long-stay car park, one of the Shropshire Council car parks that is free on Sundays and bank holidays; Ludlow Assembly Rooms is a short walk from Galdeford, which has the same Sunday rule. Full tariffs are on our parking page, and the roadworks and travel page has anything closed on the night.
