Pant Memorial Hall's Christmas Fair is free on Saturday 28 November, 2pm to 5pm: stalls, tombola, bookstall and mulled wine, all raising money for the hall.
Pant Memorial Hall’s Christmas Fair is back on Saturday 28 November, from 2pm to 5pm, and entry is free. The hall, on the main A483 through the village south of Oswestry, says every stall, raffle ticket and slice of cake helps keep it running.
The hall’s marketing team wrote to us with the details. “Pant Memorial Hall is getting ready for a festive afternoon as its Christmas Fair returns,” they said. “Visitors can browse a wonderful selection of stalls offering handmade crafts, Christmas decorations, jewellery, gifts, cards and festive treats. It’s a lovely opportunity to find something special while supporting local makers and the village hall.”
What is on
According to the hall, the afternoon includes:
- local trader stalls selling crafts, decorations, jewellery, gifts, cards and food
- a tombola
- a second-hand bookstall
- a mystery competition
- mulled wine, tea, coffee and homemade cakes
“There will also be a tombola, second-hand bookstall and a mystery competition, with plenty of chances to enjoy some Christmas cheer over mulled wine, tea, coffee and homemade cakes,” the team said.
The poster asks visitors to bring assistance dogs only.

Why it matters to the hall
The fair is one of the hall’s main fundraisers. The hall is run by Pant Memorial Institute, registered charity 240435, and the hall’s website says the charity is “run entirely by a committee of unpaid volunteers, responsible for maintaining the village’s valuable asset”. It also says the committee now has 10 trustees and is “always looking for more help”.
How to help before the day
Donations of tombola prizes and books are welcome. They can be dropped off at the hall on Friday 27 November, between 5pm and 7pm. The hall’s website asks for saleable books only: “sorry, no magazines, street atlases or travel guides”.
Traders who want a stall can book a table for £10, according to the poster, by emailing bookings@pantmemorialhall.org.uk. Other enquiries go to secretary@pantmemorialhall.org.uk. The poster notes that because the hall is run by volunteers, replies may take a little time.
Getting there
The hall’s postcode is SY10 9QG. Its directions page says it is the single-storey building on the main road, next to the red bus shelter, with the car park entrance at the far end. Coming from Oswestry, it is on the left after the pedestrian crossing and the McColls store; if you reach the Cross Guns pub, you have gone past it. The hall also warns drivers to “ignore any satnav that sends you down a side turning”.
Buses stop at the hall bus shelter, according to the same page, with an hourly service Monday to Saturday between about 7am and 6pm towards Welshpool and Newtown, and from the stop opposite towards Oswestry.
“Come along, bring your friends and enjoy a relaxed, festive afternoon at the heart of the village!” the team said.
